Oxygen Media inks deal with Wink Communications

Oxygen Media, San Francisco, an Internet and cable-based community for women, is partnering with cable programming company Wink Communications to deliver enhanced cable programming and e-commerce advertisements to households with Wink-equipped TV, cable or satellite boxes. In related news, Oxygen named Sharleen Smith VP-convergence technologies. Ms. Smith will report to Geoffrey Darby, Oxygen's president of production. Ms. Smith will head up Oxygen's Convergence Lab, an experimental facility where Oxygen will try out new technologies to deliver entertainment and information. Ms. Smith will be responsible for working with Wink and Oxygen's other convergence partners in exploring opportunities that take advantage of convergence. Ms. Smith joins Oxygen from USA Networks, where she was director of new technology.
