The offices are located in Stamford, Conn., and house marketing and other administrative personnel, according to an executive familiar with the situation.
In addition, P&G is also cutting 165 jobs elsewhere in the U.S. and 815 overseas. At the same time, the marketer said it is adding 100 jobs to its Cincinnati headquarters and 285 to P&G offices elsewhere globally. Some Clairol employees may be eligible to get some of those jobs if they're willing to relocate.
Some of those decisions seem to have been made. AdAge.com reported last week that P&G moved the Clairol account from Interpublic Group of Cos.' Foote, Cone & Belding Worldwide, New York, to Grey Global Group's Ericsson Fina, New York.
A P&G spokeswoman confirmed that layoffs had been announced in Connecticut but could not confirm numbers and a second spokeswoman with additional details could not immediately be reached for comment.
