SCHWALBACH, Germany -- In a highly unusual move by a major advertiser in Germany, Procter & Gamble Co.'s German subsidiary held an awards banquet in Frankfurt May 7 to recognize successful campaigns produced by the five agencies it uses in Germany. More than 300 people attended the event, including executivess from P&G, Michael Conrad & Leo Burnett
, D'Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles, Euro RSCG, Grey and Saatchi & Saatchi.
P&G managers, along with General Manager Brian Buchan, selected the winners from commercials that appeared in 1997. "This is a fabulous event and it will motivate the agency, the brand teams and help the company," says CEO/Chairman Hubertus von Lobenstein. "Advertising that is great to watch and yet sells the product, this is creativity at its best," says Mr. Buchan.
