P&G plans HDTV ads

Published on .

Procter & Gamble Co., Cincinnati, will unveil on Oct. 29 high-definition TV versions of commercials for five brands--Tide detergent, Pampers diapers, Bounty paper towels, Scope mouthwash and Head & Shoulders shampoo--during the first live HDTV news broadcast in the U.S. The 70-minute HDTV broadcast of John Glenn's space launch will be produced by Harris Corp. Though HDTV isn't scheduled to roll out formally until Nov. 1, about 15 of the 40 TV stations that initially plan to broadcast HDTV signals are moving their on-air dates up to Thursday to show the broadcast.
