P&G puts Biz on block

Procter & Gamble Co., Cincinnati, is putting its Biz color-safe bleach business up for sale, in the latest of a series of divestitures at the marketing giant. P&G is focusing on brands with greatest potential for global growth, said Paul Polman, president-global fabric care, and Biz is a mainly regional brand even in the U.S., with greatest strength in the South and Midwest, and sales of less than $40 million. Biz last got media support in 1998, with $3 million in spending, according to Competitive Media Reporting. The brand hasn't had an agency of record since P&G dropped Euro RSCG Worldwide from its roster last year. Earlier this year, P&G sold its Coast bar soap and Oxydol laundry detergent brands.
