P&G roster agency Saatchi to feast on Iams pet food acc't

Published on .

Procter & Gamble Co., Cincinnati, named roster shop Saatchi & Saatchi as global agency for the Iams and Eukanuba pet food brands acquired in the purchase of Iams Co., which was completed earlier this month. Saatchi takes over the account immediately, and it will be handled out of the agency's New York office. "Saatchi's capability and strong track record in helping build P&G's brands make them an excellent choice,'' said Jeffrey P. Ansell, new president of Iams and former VP-baby care, North America, for P&G. Saatchi also handles P&G's flagship Tide brand globally, as well as Oil of Olay skincare products. Iams spent $15 million on advertising in 1998 via Doner, Southfield, Mich., according to Competitive Media Reporting, but P&G spending levels for similar-size brands exceeds $30 million in the U.S.
