P&G's Olestra arrival near

Procter & Gamble Co. is expecting the Food & Drug Administration to grant approval for olestra, P&G's zero-calorie fat replacement P&G plans to market olestra as Olean and expects to begin test marketing it in snack foods such as Pringle's during the first half of '96. There is no agency yet. P&G at its annual meeting Tuesday noted the FDA will review olestra at its next Food Advisory Committee meeting in mid-November. Chairman-CEO John Pepper said, "We're encouraged by that news because this meeting typically comes near the end of the review process."
