P&G SELLS COMET TO PRESTIGE BRANDS

CINCINNATI (AdAge.com) -- Procter & Gamble Co. today announced it has reached an agreement to sell the global trademark and retail business in North America for its Comet cleanser to Prestige Brands International.

Under terms of the deal, P&G will continue to market the retail comet brand in Central and Eastern Europe and the away-from-home Professional Line Comet in North America.

Comet is the third P&G brand Prestige has acquired in the past two years, including Prell shampoo in 1999 and Chloraseptic Throat Sprays and Lozenges in March 2000.
