Pac Bell excited about At Hand

Published on .

Petry Interactive and its California-based regional sales force, said President and CEO Jeffrey M. Killeen. Early 1997 the service expects to add Pacific Bell's 500-member Yellow Pages sales force as sales reps for the mega-site which specializes in regional California content.

"We're going to be announcing a new rate card in January in which we'll allow exclusive sponsorships in categories" within the site's 13 content channels, Mr. Killeen said. "We're gravitating toward two-week exclusive windows (for advertisers) alternating with maybe one week off." The site's 13 channels offer 400 different sponsorable categories.

As for ad revenue on At Hand, Mr. Killeen said that as the service built population, many advertisers signed on at trial rates less than the established rate card. However, he said the ad inventory sold on the site is the equivalent of $3 million in sales revenue, and that as marketers begin paying full price, he wouldn't be surprised if At Hand brought home that much ad sales revenue during each quarter.Copyright December 1996, Crain Communications Inc.
