Padden to head ABC network

Preston Padden was named president, ABC Television Network. Mr. Padden will be responsible for ABC TV network sales, affiliate relations, broadcast operations and engineering and network communications. Most of these responsibilities were handled by David Westin, recently promoted to president, ABC News. Mr. Padden, a key lieutenant to News Corp. Chairman Rupert Murdoch, recently resigned as chairman-CEO of Mr. Murdoch's American Sky Broadcasting venture.
