Papa John's ordered to move 'Better' slogan

Papa John's International was ordered by a U.S. District judge in Dallas to remove its "Better Ingredients. Better pizza'' slogan from marketing materials beginning Jan. 24. The ruling, which stemmed from a dispute over ad claims between the Louisville, Ky.-based Papa John's and rival Pizza Hut, found the slogan used as part of a $300 million effort via Fricks/Firestone, Atlanta, was false, misleading and deceptive, and laid out a schedule Papa John's must follow to remove it from ads, pizza boxes, restaurant signage and delivery trucks by April 3. Pizza Hut, a unit of Tricon Global Restaurants, was awarded $467,619.75 but was also barred from suggesting in ads that its pizzas are superior to Papa John's unless the claim can be scientifically proved.
