Paramount gets interactive

Paramount Television Group is plunging into online media with Paramount Digital Entertainment, a new unit that will create interactive programming based on Paramount movies and TV shows. Paramount Digital also will develop an online offering with Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. targeted to women' health, fitness and beauty issues. Leonard J. Washington II will be VP-executive producer of the unit, from director of strategic alliances at Viacom Interactive Services. Scott G. Converse will serve as senior VP-technology, from VP-technology at Viacom, which acquired Paramount last year. Paramount has yet to name an executive to oversee the unit. Paramount also Tuesday opened a World Wide Web site, at http://www.paramount.com.
