PAX TV claims 'strong' debut ratings

Published on .

PAX TV, West Palm Beach, Fla., in its Aug. 31 debut received a 1.4 weighted average household rating between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. in the Nielsen metered markets where PAX TV was available. In New York, the lineup, anchored by reruns of "Touched by an Angel," averaged a 1.5 rating. In Los Angeles, PAX TV averaged a 0.7 rating. The company, which bills itself as "America's seventh broadcast TV network," called the ratings "strong." Steve Sternberg, senior partner-director of broadcast research for TN Media, said, "If PAX TV wants to consider themselves a cable network, it's a strong debut number. If they want to consider themselves a broadcast network, it's not."
