PBS ups sponsorships

PBS Sponsorship Group, New York, sold $12.2 million in program sponsorships during its second quarter, ended Dec. 31. That was a 58% increase over the same period in 1997, and included $5.5 million in new sponsorships. New advertisers included SBC Communications ("Washington Week in Review") and McDonald's Corp. ("Africans in America").
