Penney names brand chief

J.C. Penney Co., Plano., Texas, named J. Raymond Pierce president of brand development, a new post, from president of Penney's men's division. He will be responsible for directing brand development, quality assurance and international sourcing for the development of proprietary-brand strategies and brand positioning, reporting to Thomas D. Hutchens, president of merchandising worldwide.
