Sean McManus, as expected, has been named president of CBS Sports. He joins the company from International Management Group's Trans World International division, where he was senior VP-U.S. TV sales and programming. He replaces David Kenin, who left.

John 0. Nielson resigned as president-chief operating officer of Smithfield Foods, Norfolk, Va. He is succeeded by Lewis R. Little, from president of Gwaltney of Smithfield, a wholly-owned subsidiary. Timothy A. Seely, VP-sales and marketing, Fresh Meats of Gwaltney, will replace Mr. Little.
