Keith Clinkscales, president-CEO of Miller Publishing's Vibe/Spin Ven-tures, resigned today. Mr. Clinkscales, founding publisher of Vibe, will start his own media company, said a Vibe spokeswoman. Len Burnett, Vibe ad director, is leaving with him.

In a major surprise, Alan Wurtzel was named to the new post of president-research and media development at NBC. Mr. Wurtzel joins NBC from ABC, where he was senior VP-media development, brand management and research. He had been named that network's top research executive in August. Nick Schivone, NBC's longtime senior VP-research, will report to Mr. Wurtzel.

Hank Close to senior VP-advertising sales, Comedy Central, New York, the top ad sales slot at the cable network. Mr. Close comes to Comedy from Fox Broadcasting Co., where he was senior VP-eastern sales. He succeeds Larry Divney, Comedy's former exec VP-advertising sales, who was promoted to president-CEO of the network earlier this year.
