Nicholas Schiavone, senior VP-research at NBC, New York, sent a memoto staffers today saying he will leave the company Oct. 1 after working forthe network for more than 26 years. NBC surprised the research communityearlier this year when it hired Alan Wurtzel away from ABC and named himpresident-research and media development. Until then, Mr. Schiavone hadbeen NBC's top research executive.

The U.K. half of Anglo-Dutch publishing giant Reed Elsevier, which has beenstruggling for a year without a chief executive, named Aegis Group ChiefExecutive Crispin Davis, 50, to the spot. Mr. Davis succeedsCo-Chief Executives Herman Bruggink and Nigel Stapleton, who had agreed tostay with Reed Elsevier until the Anglo and Dutch operations merge into asingle management structure.
