Joseph Galli Jr. resigned as president-chief operating officer of Amazon.com, Seattle, to become president-CEO at VerticalNet, Horsham, Pa., a network of business-to-business community sites. Mr. Galli spent just a year at Amazon, joining the e-tail giant in June 1999 as No. 2 to Chairman-CEO Jeff Bezos after a 19-year career at Black & Decker Corp. At VerticalNet, he succeeds Mark Walsh, who becomes chairman.

Online ad-serving company and ad network DoubleClick, New York, promoted President-Chief Operating Officer Kevin Ryan to CEO. DoubleClick also appointed Mr. Ryan to its board. No successor to Mr. Ryan, filling his title as president-chief operating officer, was named. In addition, current Chairman-CEO Kevin O'Connor drops his title as CEO but remains as chairman. Both are based in New York.

Massive Media Group, a digital rights management company in Santa Monica, Calif., named Gregory Harrison, previously director-strategic sales and marketing at Emotion Inc., VP-sales. He will be based in Los Angeles.

Brylane, a specialty catalog retailer, named Michele Bartram VP for e-commerce. Ms. Bartram, who will be based in New York, previously served as senior VP-commerce at iVillage.com.
