NEW YORK: New York Women in Communications handed out Matrix Awards at its 28th annual awards luncheon at the Waldorf-Astoria. Honorees were women who have distinguished themselves in advertising, books, broadcasting, film, magazines, newspapers and public relations. NEW YORK: Kang & Lee hosted a banquet for the media at Triple 8 Palace Restaurant in Chinatown to celebrate Asian Pacific Heritage Month a little early -- officially, May is Asian Pacific Heritage Month. Among those attending the festivities were (l. to r.) SANTA MONICA, CALIF.: Chicago's Leo Burnett USA was presented with the Magazine Publishers of America's Kelly Award for the best campaign of 1997 for its work for Kraft Foods' Altoids mints at the Santa Monica Museum of Flying.
