Pepsi banners go virtual

Published on .

Pepsi-Cola Cop. applies its slogan GeneratioNext to the Web on Monday when it introduces the first banner scripted in Virtual Reality Modeling Language (VRML) 2.0.

Created by DDB Needham Interactive, Dallas, the 3D interactive banner promotes Pepsi's GeneratioNext Web site Pepsi World. The ads will run on Web site community GeoCities, Internet software company Progressive Network, the DoubleClick ad network and Silicon Graphics VRML resource. To see the ads, viewers must download VRML playback software, such as SGI's Cosmo Player, which is available through Netscape's Communicator.
