Pepsi bottling consolidates

Published on .

Pepsi-Cola International, Somers, N.Y., announced Thursday it is consolidating bottling efforts in Mexico, the second-largest soft drink market in the world. The beverage company will spend $154 million for a 25% stake in Grupo Embotellador de Mexico (GEMEX), which will collaborate with several existing Pepsi bottling businesses in the country. GEMEX will cede all shares and full management control to Pepsi in seven years. The move is expected to increase territorial expansion in Mexico.
