Pepsi signs Andre Agassi

Published on .

Pepsi-Cola has signed a global endorsement deal with tennis superstar Andre Agassi to promote Mountain Dew in the U.S. and Pepsi Max overseas. The two-year deal, beginning in 1996, calls for the brands to use Mr. Agassi in advertising, point-of-purchase materials and promotional tie-ins, and also includes personal appearances. Pepsi made the announcement at the U.S. Open in Flushing, N.Y., where Mr. Agassi is currently defending the title he won last year. Pepsi Max, a sugar-free cola, is sold in more than 50 countries.
