PepsiCo sales higher

PepsiCo reported a 14% gain in third-quarter earnings, to $616.8 million, on a 9% gain in sales, to $7.7 billion. U.S. beverage volume grew more than 5% in the quarter, led by Pepsi and Mountain Dew. Frito-Lay grew its grocery share for the 20th consecutive quarter, jumping four points to 49%. Restaurants also fared well, with KFC and Pizza Hut growing same-store sales by more than 5%. Taco Bell's same-store sales declined 4%.
