Perrier withdraws topless wonderbubbles ad

BRUSSELS -- Perrier and its Belgian ad agency Publicis have bowed to feminist pressure groups by ditching prematurely the "wonderbubbles" poster campaign.

The offending campaign showed a line of naked women with Perrier bottle tops on their nipples. The posters are to be replaced by less provocative ads for sister brand Vittel.

Perrier was not available for comment but account director Philippe Halluant at Publicis says: "Most people in Belgium seem to like the ads." He claims the agency has received over 200 requests from members of the public for miniatures of the ad. "Perrier itself has received about the same," he adds. "We are printing more 40cm by 15cm copies of this ad than any other campaign we have made."

"Wonderbubbles" will not be exported. The ad is part of a unique campaign for Belgium called: "It's crazy." All other executions in it have so far successfully avoided controversy.
