PHILIPS NAMES MARKETING CHIEF FOR NORTH AMERICA

(Aug. 22, 2001) -- Philips Consumer Electronics North America named Mark Buss its chief marketing officer, replacing Michael Lang, who becomes general manager of Philips' audio/video group.

Mr. Buss comes to Philips from Maytag Corp., where he was VP-strategic marketing, among other posts, during a 20-year career. While at Maytag, Mr. Buss worked closely with Larry Blanford, who was formerly president of Maytag Appliances and Maytag's Worldwide Solutions Group and is now president-CEO of Philips Consumer Electronics North America. -- Tobi Elkin
