Original Creative Deemed Inappropriate Post-Sept. 11

By Published on .

DETROIT (AdAge.com) -- Phillips Petroleum Co., Bartlesville, Okla., is readying a new ad campaign with a "patriotic flavor."

The TV and print from Omnicom Group's DDB Worldwide, Dallas, is expected next month, said account supervisor Sarah Murray.

Phillips had pulled a new ad campaign that was due soon after Sept. 11. The print ad was to show a roughneck worker on a fictional oil rig in New York City to illustrate the financial strength of the marketer, which had acquired Tosco Corp. in September.

That work was deemed inappropriate.
