Phoenix PM daily to close

The afternoon Phoenix Gazette will cease publication with its Saturday edition. The Gazette's sister paper, the morning Arizona Republic, with a daily circulation of about 380,000, has been growing in recent years while the Gazette has been declining from 110,000 circulation in the mid-1980s to 39,000 today. The two papers are owned by Central Newspapers Inc., which had earlier merged its papers in Indianapolis.
