Pilot pulls "stress reduction" claim

The Council of Better Business Bureaus National Advertising Division, New York, said Pilot Pen Corp. of America, Trumbull, Conn., agreed to drop "stress reduction" claims for its Dr. Grip line of pens. In its ads, from KGA Advertising, Middleton, Conn., Pilot said the Dr. Grip pen "reduces writing stress by 40%." NAD said Pilot lacked adequate substantiation for the claim, which was challeged by Gillette Co., Boston, markerter of Paper Mate and Parker pens.
