PlanetPortal releases Web remote control

Published on .

Start-up PlanetPortal.com, Durham, N.C., is releasing a remote control to navigate the Web. Tentatively called eGo, the device attaches to a PC and allows users to move online using 46 so-called hot keys. The ad-supported eGo device will be given away to 10 million consumers. PlanetPortal is selling advertising on slide cards, which slip into the device and identify keys that connect consumers to merchant Web sites. No advertisers had been finalized for the service.
