Playboy wins suit over CD-ROM

A district court judge ordered a Florida CD-ROM company to pay Playboy Enterprises $1.1 million in a copyright infringement suit. Playboy alleged Starware Publishing Corp., Deerfield, Fla., was unauthorized to use photographs from Playboy magazine in its CD-ROM, "Private Pictures I." Starware claimed it downloaded the photos from a bulletin board system or from another CD-ROM, believing them to be in the public domain.
