Starting May 1, Philadelphia drivers will know what's playing on WPLY-FM even before they tune in. The tune on the air will be displayed in the spot where "EIA RBDS Promotion" appears on this sample outdoor board, designed by Specialized Communications, Bellevue, Wash. It's part of the Electronic Industries Association's campaign to bring 500 FM stations online with Radio Broadcast Data System in the next year.
