PointCast casts off

Published on .

The PointCast Network, one of the most talked about early Internet ventures, signs off today. PointCast began development in 1992 and then in Feb. 1996 launched the PointCast Network, an early proponent of "pushing" content to PC desktops. PointCast couldn't live up to its hype, and a shrunken company and its user base were acquired last year. The new owner, EntryPoint (www.entrypoint.com), today formally moves remaining PointCast users to its product, EntryPoint 2.0.
