PointCast this fall plans to launch the PointCast College Network, targeting college students with content from E! Online, SonicNet, Wired, Billboard and other media companies, an executive familiar with the company said. The network is a major expansion beyond PointCast's existing business pushing news and information, along with animated ads, to business users. Ads will be priced at $63,000 per quarter; the network will carry a rate base of 125,000 unique viewers per month for the fall semester. PointCast's rate base for its existing service is 1.2 million unique viewers.
