Published on .

PointCast formally unveiled the PointCast College Network, an Internet broadcast news and information system for campuses. The service is scheduled to launch this fall. PointCast will offer six channels: E! Online, Music Zone (featuring Billboard, Rolling Stone and SonicNet), U-Wire daily news from student newspapers, Wired Esc from Wired Digital, Student Advantage discounts and a general resource area. Colleges will also be able to program their own channel to students.

PointCast will sell advertising on the network; Student Advantage, a membership marketing company, will assist sales.
