The Washington Post Co. on Tuesday reported net income of $36.9 million, for the first quarter of 1996, compared with net income of $43.9 million in the first quarter last year. Revenue for the quarter was $416.6 million, up 4%. Broadcast division revenues increased 6% and newspaper division revenue was about even with last year. The company said Newsweek revenues were down 2% due to decreased advertising volume.
