Career: A native of Copenhagen, Mr. Sorensen's resume includes various posts in Europe, including marketing manager of Materne division of W.R. Grace in Paris. Mr. Sorensen joined M&M/Mars in 1976 as managing director of Danish subsidiary MasterFoods, and was moved to general manager of the broker division in the U.S. and later senior VP-business development. He joined Pepsi International in 1988 as senior VP-marketing, sales and business development, and in 1989 became president-CEO of the international business of Grand Met's Haagen-Dazs. In 1992, he joined United Distillers, Guiness PLC's North American subsidiary as president-CEO, and came to RJR in October 1995.
