New president at Lord & Taylor

Don R. Clarke was named president of May Department Stores Co.'s Lord & Taylor division, from chairman-CEO, Caldor, a former May division. At New York-based Lord & Taylor, Mr. Clarke succeeds Ronald F. Tanler, who is retiring, and will report to Lord & Taylor Chairman-CEO Marshall Hilsberg. Lord & Taylor had $1.9 billion in sales in fiscal 1997 and operates 64 stores in 17 states and the District of Columbia.
