Denis Hennequin, European VP Named as Replacement

CHICAGO (AdAge.com) -- Russ Smyth, president of McDonald's Europe, has resigned and Denis Hennequin, vice president of European operations, has been named to replace him, according to the company.
Russ Smyth has quit abruptly; Denis Hennequin will take his place.

More family time
Mr. Smyth, who was elevated to the post responsible for 6,000 restaurants in 51 countries in January 2003, said he was leaving the company to spend more time with his family.

He earlier was president of McDonald's Partner Brands, the portfolio of restaurant concepts that includes Boston Market and Chipotle. Mr. Smyth also held senior international positions including senior vice president for international relationship partners for Southeast and Central Asia and vice president of the Latin America Group.

Mr. Hennequin, 46, is a 21-year veteran of the company who began as an assistant manger of a McDonald's restaurant in Paris. He became executive vice president for McDonald's Europe in January 2004.
