New president named at CBS Telenoticias

Published on .

MIAMI--Manuel Abud has been named as the new president of CBS Telenoticias, replacing Francisco de la Torre, who is leaving to pursue other interests.

Most recently, Mr. Abud was chief financial officer at Mexico's Grupo Medcom, which acquired 70% of the CBS cable network last year. Prior to Grupo Medcom, Abud held senior positions with Televisa and Mexico's largest construction firm, Grupo ICA.

CBS Telenoticias operates three channels: a 24-hour Spanish-language news channel distributed throughout Latin America; a Spanish-language news channel available in the U.S. and Canadian markets; and a Portuguese-language news channel distributed in Brazil. It also produces two nightly news programs for Telemundo, the number-two Spanish-language network in the U.S.
