Bell Atlantic Corp. CEO Raymond Smith pleaded the case of interactive TV last week, telling advertisers not to forget the medium in the rush to develop other interactive applications. Speaking at a luncheon hosted by the Advertising Women of New York, Mr. Smith urged agencies to consider Bell Atlantic as a partner in interactive TV testing. The company is gearing up for a consumer test of its Stargazer system in northern Virginia this spring.
MNI Interactive, San Francisco, this spring introduces a quarterly CD-ROM music previewing and purchasing service featuring some 250 albums. The premiere issue, covering the best albums of 1994, will be specially priced at $2.95 and will be supported with print ads in Wired, Multimedia World and CD-ROM Today. Customers can purchase albums via telephone or e-mail; an online ordering service is planned.

Matthew Jacobson joined Creative Artists Agency, Beverly Hills, Calif., as an executive in the corporate advisory group focusing on interactive entertainment services. He was VP-entertainment services at Delphi Internet Services.
American Express Corp. opened ExpressNet on America Online (see CyberCritiques review on Page 14).... Automobile, Cornerstone Publishing and Creative Multimedia released Automania, a car-buying guide on CD-ROM. Average retail price is $29.99.... Catalog 1, a joint venture between Spiegel and Time Warner, said it would scale back TV programming and open a World Wide Web site this spring.
