Prodigy's Bennett named chairman-pres of ventures unit

Published on .

Prodigy Services Co., under a new management relationship with International Wireless, merged July 29 with IW to become Prodigy Inc. IW executives assume the top two roles at the company, while Prodigy's President-CEO Ed Bennett becomes chairman-president of a new unit of the company called Prodigy Ventures. The Ventures group will absorb Prodigy's Wildflower Partners division, established to cultivate new content business (much like America Online's Greenhouse group), according to Prodigy sources. David Friedensohn, VP-Wildflower Partners, will likely report to Mr. Bennett under the restructuring. Prodigy sources said Weiss, Whitten, Stagliano, will pick up the company's $10 million account; Weiss, Whitten would not confirm. Less than two weeks ago, Prodigy and Cliff, Freeman & Partners, New York, discontinued their 18-month old relationship.
