Profile of the week: Walt Disney Co.

Published on .

Investors sent Walt Disney Co.'s share price tumbling after it said earnings in the current quarter will be flat and that spot TV ad rates at its ABC TV network were slipping. Shares in News Corp., owner of the Fox network, also fell. Disney slumped despite upbeat comments from Disney Chairman Michael Eisner and President Robert Iger, who said they saw an ad rebound in 2001 and that Disney was "bullish" on the ad spending outlook. In trading Friday, Disney closed at $31.69, down 16.75% for the week.
