Pepsi-Cola Co. fired a major salvo in the cola wars late last week with a lawsuit charging Coca-Cola Co. with monopolizing sales of fountain beverages in the U.S.

At the same time, Pepsi -- with its cola sales flat -- has shaken up its marketing ranks. Veteran marketing executive Brian Swette has been replaced by a marketing council. Phil Marineau, president-CEO, Pepsi-Cola North America, will have a strong hand in advertising and marketing; he's credited with building the Gatorade brand.
