Cowles Business Media said it has signed a letter of intent to buy Promo magazine and related assets of Smith Communications, Norwalk, Conn., from Kerry E. Smith and Kerry J. Smith. The father-and-son team will remain with the publication. The deal includes the Promo Expo trade shows. Terms were not disclosed.
