PSINet sets consumer Internet access service

Published on .

PSINet, Herndon, Va., this fall will offer a high-end consumer Internet access service to differentiate itself from the flat-fee, mass market-targeted offerings from AT&T and other online providers. PSINet hasn't set pricing for the new service yet, but said in a news release that expected upper-level customers "require security and knowledgeable customer support, and are willing to pay for it."

Separately, PSINet reported first-quarter revenues of $17.18 million, up from $5.89 million in the first quarter of 1995.
