Steve Price to Lead Dallas-Based Agency

CHICAGO (AdAge.com) -- Publicis in Mid-America elevated its president-chief operating officer, Steve Price, to chairman-CEO of the Dallas-based unit of Publicis Groupe.

The move comes in the wake of last week's announced consolidation of Publicis in Mid-America's Chicago office with sibling Publicis, New York.

Mr. Price will take over the chairman-CEO post Oct. 1 from Barry Krause, who will move to Manhattan to run the consolidated New York office as chairman-CEO, Publicis, New York.

announced Mr. Price's promotion late last week after the Dallas-based agency told employees it had won two new assignments from client Sara Lee Corp.

With the Just My Size and Champion apparel wins, the Dallas office is up between $70 million and $80 million net over last year's $289 million in billings, including its $30 million loss of Carlson Restaurants' TGI Fridays, Mr. Price said. The office already handles Sara Lee's Bakery division, and the additional Sara Lee assignments will double the 15 staffers currently "touching" the business, he said.

"This gives us a foot in the door with another division and [Sara Lee's] highest profile division," said Mr. Price. He said the agency used two separate teams to pitch the concurrent reviews.

Other recent wins for the Dallas office include Curves for Women fitness centers and the general market creative account for Denny's.

Publicis Mid-america also has an office in Indianapolis.
