Puckett steps up for glaucoma awareness

Published on .

Kirby Puckett, the former outfielder for the Minnesota Twins, is stepping up to bat for vision and glaucoma organizations in a national glaucoma awareness campaign. Sponsored by Pharmacia & Upjohn, the "Don't be blindsided" was announced on Monday. Mr. Puckett lost the sight in his right eye from glaucoma earlier this year and was forced to retire from baseball. "Don't Be Blindsided!" will feature local screening programs, workplace seminars on glaucoma, educational brochures, public service announcements and community outreach.
