Quaker State planning to fold Q-Lube chain into Jiffy Lubes

Published on .

Q-Lube, Quaker State Corp.'s quick oil-change chain, will start switching the first of its 570 stores to Jiffy Lube International stores next year as the result of the expected Dec. 31 merger of Pennzoil Products Co. and Quaker, both marketers confirmed. The Jiffy Lube chain, with 2,000 sites, is a Pennzoil unit. A Pennzoil spokesman said GSD&M, Austin, Texas, which has Jiffy Lube's $25 million account, will continue as agency of record. Q-Lube had advertised regionally via Valentine Radford, Kansas City, Mo.
