For the first time, a radio campaign took the top prize at last week's International Andy Awards.

Two humorous spots for Antstop Orthene Fire Ant Killer from Ortho nabbed the Grandy Award and the $50,000 prize at the Advertising Club of New York-sponsored event. The two radio spots describe the trepidation that red ants can bring, saying: "Fire ants are not lovable. People do not want fire ant plush toys .*.*. They just bite you and leave red stinging welts that make you want to cry." The continuing tag: Antstop Orthene Fire Ant Killer "kicks fire ant butt."

The campaign from BBDO West, Los Angeles, was created by Creative Director David Lubars, copywriters April Winchell and Mick Kuisel, and produced by Radio Savant.

Omnicom Group agencies were the big winners, with BBDO's North American offices racking up seven Andy's. Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, San Francisco, walked away with five awards, for clients including Anheuser-Busch, Polaroid Corp. and
